Click here for more details about Rgroups, an example, and a detailed procedure how to draw a Markush query.

To draw a Markush query:

  1. Draw the root structure. Use the other drawing tools.

  2. Add Rgroup atom to the root structure.

    1. Click the "Create Markush structure or query"v tool.
    2. Click the atom that you want to replace.
    3. Select an Rgroup from the palette.
  3. Draw the Rgroup members with the chemical drawing tools. Step 4 will always add an additional bond. Remove the CN bond of teh default NO2 query.

  4. Add Rgroup members.

    1. Click the "Create Markush structure or query" tool.
    2. Click the fragment that you want to add.
    3. Drag and drop the fragment onto the Rgroup definition (Rn=). Try toselect the whole group. Wait until you have a blue boy around the group.
  5. (Optional) Move attachment points.

    1. Click the Markush Query tool.
    2. Click the asterisk of the attachment point.
    3. Drag and drop the asterisk onto the atom that you want.
  6. (Optional) Change the occurence. If an Rgroup atom appears at more than one instance (or place) in the root structure, you see "R1 = n (where n is defined as the number of occurences), R2 >0, etc." appear automatically next to the Rgroup definition (Rn =). For each such Rgroup, you need to specify the frequency (occurrence), the number of times that a member of this Rgroup must appear in retrieved structures. To change the frequency:
    1. Select the Rgroup Query Tool.
    2. Click the occurence definition (R1 = n), located next to the Rgroup definition (Rn =).
    3. Select a number from the dialog box that is displayed.
    4. Click OK to accept your selection. The frequency definition is updated with your selection.

Generic  Structure Enumerator

The enumerator works against structures defined using the Rgroup tool in Accelrys Draw. In this mode you specify a scaffold with a number of Rgroup labels, then to add fragments to the Rgroup identifiers. The Add-in will calculate the complete set of structures that the Rgroups define.

You can also define a generic region using the Sgroup tool. Draw the basic structure and using the Sgroup tool, drag a pair of brackets around a region that is repeated in the substance. From the dropdown select ‘generic’ for the bracket type, then select apply and exit from the dialog. Right click on one of the brackets and select the Attach Data option. In the dialog enter REPEATRANGE into the Field description box, and then enter the range in the Data box; leave the Search Operator set to none; the Tag field is optional. A contiguous range is required in the Data box, for example 3-6.

A structure can contain both Rgroup definitions and Sgroup definitions, but they cannot overlap or be nested.

You have the option to enumerate on to Accelrys Draw’s canvas, into an SDfile, or into an Isentris for Excel compatible spreadsheet.

Based on your request, it seems you are looking for information on how to find, use, or understand the content of the "Aki Ola Elective Mathematics" textbook, which is a core resource for West African senior high school students (particularly in Ghana).

Here is a breakdown of why this feature/resource is helpful, what it covers, and how to use it effectively.

Final Verdict

The search for the Aki Ola Elective Maths PDF reflects a genuine student need: accessible, high-quality revision material. While the digital demand is understandable, students are encouraged to support the local publishing industry by purchasing legal copies. If cost is a barrier, forming a study group to share one physical book or exploring authorized second-hand copies are smarter, ethical paths to conquering Elective Mathematics.

Remember: Aki Ola will help you pass. But regular practice and understanding the "why" behind the formulas will make you a true mathematician. Standard undergraduate texts for further reading (e

References & resources

  • Standard undergraduate texts for further reading (e.g., Stewart: Calculus; Lay: Linear Algebra; Ross: Probability and Statistics).
  • Suggested online tools: graphing calculators, GeoGebra, Desmos for visualization.
  • Datasets: Open datasets for applied stats projects (local government, Kaggle sample sets).

What is the Aki Ola Elective Maths Series?

Aki Ola Publications is a renowned Ghanaian textbook publisher famous for its Questions and Answers series. The Aki Ola Elective Mathematics textbook is a comprehensive guide designed to simplify the notoriously challenging Elective Maths syllabus. Unlike standard theoretical textbooks, the Aki Ola series is structured around:

  • Step-by-step worked examples for every topic (from Sets, Binomial Theorem, and Coordinate Geometry to Calculus, Vectors, and Mechanics).
  • Past WASSCE questions organized by topic, showing students exactly how examiners test concepts.
  • Trial exercises with answers, allowing for self-assessment.

Ethical Alternatives to "Free Download"

If you are searching for the PDF to avoid carrying a heavy book or because physical copies are sold out, consider these legal alternatives:

  1. Official E-Books: Check the official Aki Ola website or their accredited distributors (e.g., Noor-deen Enterprise, Sedco Publishing) for official digital licenses.
  2. The "Share" Method: In Ghanaian SHS culture, one physical book is often shared among 3-4 students. Buy one physical copy for your group, and scan the specific chapters you need for the term.
  3. Library Genesis (Grey Area): While technically a pirate site, students in remote areas with zero access to bookstores sometimes use Sci-Hub or LibGen. Use with caution; ensure you have robust antivirus software.

1. Is there a specific PDF for the new 2024 WAEC syllabus?

Aki Ola updates their series periodically. If you downloaded a PDF from 2018, it might miss topics like "Financial Mathematics" (Loan amortization) or "Linear Programming" (Graphical solutions) if those were added later. Always compare the PDF’s table of contents with the current WAEC Elective Maths syllabus (available on WAEC’s website).

Step 1: Organize Your Device

Create a folder on your phone called "SHS Resources." Inside, save the Aki Ola Elective Maths PDF. Use a PDF reader with annotation features (e.g., Xodo PDF Reader or Foxit).

How to Use the PDF Effectively (Study Tips)

1. Search Functionality Since you are looking for a PDF, one of the biggest advantages is the "Find" (Ctrl + F) feature. Instead of flipping through pages, you can instantly search for keywords like "Binomial Theorem" or "Differentiation" to jump straight to the topic you are struggling with.

2. Print Specific Pages If you struggle with a specific chapter (e.g., Vectors), print just those pages. Writing notes on printed paper is often more effective for retaining mathematical formulas than reading on a screen.

3. Combine with Past Questions The Aki Ola book is great for theory, but Elective Maths requires practice. After reading a chapter in the PDF, immediately attempt past WASSCE questions on that same topic to solidify the knowledge.
