ArtCAM Pro 9.1 — Full Installation Instructions

Installation — Step-by-step

  1. Open the mounted ISO or installation folder and run: 
    setup.exe
  2. On the welcome screen click Next.
  3. Accept the license agreement; click Next.
  4. Enter your Serial Number/License Key when prompted; click Next.
  5. Choose installation type:
    • Typical — standard components (recommended).
    • Custom — select specific modules (e.g., Toolpaths, 3D modelling).
      Choose Typical unless you know which components you need.
  6. Choose installation folder (default usually C:\Program Files\ArtCAM Pro 9); click Next.
  7. Select whether to install shortcuts and file associations; click Next.
  8. Click Install to begin copying files — wait for progress to complete.
  9. When installation finishes, click Finish.

Common installation problems & fixes

  • Installer hangs or crashes: Re-run as Administrator and in Compatibility Mode; temporarily disable antivirus/firewall.
  • Missing DLLs or runtime errors: Install Visual C++ Redistributables (2005–2015 range) and enable .NET 3.5 if needed.
  • Dongle not detected: Reinstall dongle drivers, try different USB ports (prefer rear motherboard ports), or use a powered USB hub. In stubborn cases, test dongle on another PC to rule out hardware fault.
  • Post-processor/toolpath mismatch: Verify post-processor version matches the machine controller; small edits to header/footer or axis mapping in the post-processor may be required.
  • Crashes on startup: Move default document and template folders to a path without special characters; ensure user profile path has write permissions.

Step 7: Start Installation

Click Install. The process may take a few minutes. During this time, the installer will also attempt to install drivers for the Sentinel Hardware Key (the security dongle).

  • Note on Security Drivers: If you are using a legitimate hardware dongle, ensure it is NOT plugged in until the installation is complete and the computer has been restarted. The installer should handle the driver setup automatically.

Quick troubleshooting checklist

  • If program won’t start: run as Admin, compatibility mode, install VC++/NET, disable AV.
  • If license fails: reinstall dongle drivers, verify serial/license file, check for hardware key faults.
  • If toolpaths look wrong: recheck tool and stock setup, verify units (mm vs inches), confirm post-processor settings.

Preparation

  1. System requirements

    • Windows 7/8/10 (32- or 64-bit) or compatible OS.
    • Minimum 2 GB RAM (4+ GB recommended).
    • 2 GB free disk space.
    • 1024×768 or higher display.
    • Compatible graphics drivers installed.

  2. Files needed

    • ArtCAM Pro 9.1 installation ISO or setup folder.
    • Serial number / license key (keep it ready).
    • Administrator account on the PC.

  3. Pre-install steps

    • Disconnect from internet (recommended during installation if using a standalone license).
    • Disable antivirus/real-time protection temporarily.
    • Right-click setup and choose Run as administrator.
    • If installing from ISO, mount it (Windows Explorer: right-click → Mount) or extract the folder.

Step 3: Run the ArtCAM Installer

  • Right-click Setup.exe → Run as Administrator.
  • Select Full Installation (do not choose "Compact" or "Custom" unless you know exactly which vectors you need).
  • Installation Path: Do not use Program Files (x86) if on 64-bit Windows. Use C:\ArtCAM Pro 9.1\ directly. Old software struggles with spaces in directory paths.
