Step 8: Connect the Graphics Card (if applicable)
If you're using a separate graphics card, install it into the PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 slot. Secure the card with screws.
4. Install CPU Cooler
- Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied).
- Mount cooler per its instructions. Connect fan to CPU_FAN header (near CPU socket).
Step 5: Connect the Front Panel Headers

- Power button
- Reset button
- LED indicators (power, HDD activity)

2. Essential BIOS Settings for H81M-K
5.1 Windows 10/11 (UEFI mode)
- Create bootable USB using Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
- Boot from USB → Custom: Install Windows.
- Load storage driver only if H81M-K’s SATA is in RAID (not needed for AHCI).
- Windows setup will detect the SSD/HDD – proceed normally.
4.3 Boot Order Optimization
- Boot Option #1: UEFI USB Drive (for Windows/Linux install)
- Boot Option #2: UEFI: [Your SSD]
- Disable
Fast Boot during OS installation – re-enable after.
6. Driver & Utility Installation (Windows)
After OS installation, install drivers in this order: Apply thermal paste (if not pre-applied)
- Chipset Driver (Intel INF) – Enables PCIe, USB, SATA controllers properly.
- LAN Driver (Realtek RTL8111H) – For Ethernet.
- Audio Driver (Realtek ALC887) – 7.1-channel HD audio.
- USB 3.0 Driver – Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller.
- Graphics Driver – Intel HD Graphics (if using iGPU) or NVIDIA/AMD for dGPU.
- Optional: ASUS AI Suite 3 (monitoring, fan control, EZ Update).
