AutoCAD 2016 Language Packs: Installation Guide & Compatibility
Applies to: AutoCAD 2016, AutoCAD LT 2016, Autodesk Design Suite 2016
Step 3: How to Switch Languages
After installation, AutoCAD does not always automatically switch to the new language. You have two ways to toggle it:
Before you install
- Confirm product and version: Check AutoCAD 2016 exact build (Help > About) and whether you have a vertical (Architecture/Civil/etc.). Language packs must match product and major build.
- Backup settings: Export any custom profiles, support paths, and tool palettes.
- Close AutoCAD and related apps.
- Administrator rights: Installer requires admin privileges.
- Disk space: Ensure enough free space for download and temporary extraction.
Issue 4: Where is my "New" language shortcut?
Cause: Some language packs (notably Czech and Polish) do not create desktop shortcuts automatically.
Solution: Navigate to C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016\ – You will see folders named en-US, ja-JP, fr-FR. Inside the target folder, find acad.exe and right-click > Send to > Desktop (Create shortcut). autocad 2016 language packs new
