Hiding in a corner and waiting for the monster to pass used to be a viable strategy. In v0812, that strategy is dead.
The update introduces a new AI behavior system for the entities. They now track sound more accurately and can "smell" player fear—represented by a new panic mechanic. If you stand still too long or stare at an entity, your character’s panic rises, making you easier to track.
