Step-by-Step Installation Guide (Windows Only)
Step-by-step autoloader install (general process)
- On PC, install BlackBerry USB drivers.
- Download autoloader package matching STR100-1.
- Verify checksum (MD5/SHA1) if provided.
- Disable antivirus temporarily if it interferes.
- Power off Leap, connect via USB while holding Volume Down (or follow autoloader instructions) so device is recognized in loader mode.
- Run autoloader executable as Administrator; follow prompts. It will extract and flash the device automatically.
- Wait until process completes (do not disconnect). Device will reboot several times.
- After flashing, perform initial setup on device and restore data from backup if needed.
2. Software Preparation
- Backup your data (if the device still boots). Open Settings > BlackBerry Link or use the built-in “Backup” to an SD card.
- Remove your SD card – the Autoloader won’t touch it, but a corrupted OS might. Take it out to be safe.
- Install BlackBerry 10 drivers (if your PC hasn’t recognized a BB10 device before). The Autoloader often installs them automatically, but you can download the BlackBerry USB Drivers from Microsoft Update Catalog.
3. Extreme Sluggishness or App Crashes
Over years of use, residual cache and corrupted system files can degrade performance. A fresh install via Autoloader restores the original speed and stability of OS 10.3.2 or 10.3.3.
