ENVI-met offers a free, limited version called ENVI-met LITE

for non-commercial, academic use. This version allows you to explore the software's core capabilities for urban microclimate modeling with certain domain size restrictions. Look on academic repositories like Zenodo or GitHub under "ENVI-met 4.4.5 archive." Some university climate labs host the installer. Note that ENVI-met GmbH no longer officially supports this version, but it runs fine on Windows 10/11.

  • Fully free and open-source. Integrates with QGIS.
  • Great for solar radiation, SVF, and some climate simulations.
  • Less comprehensive than ENVI-met but actively developed.

🛑 Avoid "cracked" ENVI-met downloads. They often contain ransomware, keyloggers, or incomplete DLLs that crash your system. Moreover, using cracked software for academic publication can lead to retraction or legal action.

  • For commercial use → Purchase full license or lease (monthly subscriptions now available as of ENVI-met 5.5+).
