Fallout 4 Mod Spotlight: Modern Firearms 2.6.9 – Tactical Realism for the Commonwealth
In the modding community for Fallout 4, few weapon overhauls are as ambitious—or as polarizing—as Modern Firearms (MF). Version 2.6.9 represents a mature state of this long-running project, offering a massive arsenal of contemporary and near-future weaponry while fundamentally altering the Commonwealth’s balance of power.
If you’re tired of pipe guns and want to engage in tactical, realistic firefights, MF 2.6.9 delivers. But be warned: this mod does not pull its punches. fallout 4 modern firearms 269
Gameplay balance & recommended settings
- New calibers change ammo scarcity: carry a variety but favor common calibers for extended play.
- Adjust damage/perk expectations—some guns in MF can outclass vanilla weapons early; use difficulty/perk mods if desired.
- Consider Perk/Ammo Overhaul or balance patches if you want stricter realism.
B. Stability Issues (Known)
- Script Bloat: This version modifies leveled lists heavily. It is prone to script lag if not installed on a clean save or if removed mid-playthrough.
- Collision Meshes: Some users report collision issues with custom scopes or weapon barrels clipping through cover.
- Save Corruption: As with most large content mods, removing MF 2.6.9 mid-playthrough will almost certainly corrupt the save file due to scripts and form ID references.
Installation Guide (The Right Way)
Disclaimer: Always back up your saves. This mod is a commitment. Fallout 4 Mod Spotlight: Modern Firearms 2
For PC (Nexus Mods):
- Search for "Modern Firearms (Tactical Edition) 2.6.9" on Nexus Mods. Do not confuse it with the "Combined Arms" mod.
- Use Mod Organizer 2 or Vortex. Manual installation is not recommended.
- Crucial Step: Download the Main File and the Leveled List Integration Patch. Without the patch, you will only find the weapons via console commands (which is boring).
For Xbox One (Bethesda.net):
- Go to the Mods menu in the game's main menu.
- Search "Modern Firearms 2.6.9 Xbox."
- Warning: This mod is approximately 850 MB. On Xbox, you must clear your reserve space if you have other large weapon mods. It will disable achievement progress.
