If your router is stuck in a boot loop or unresponsive:
- Download the correct firmware and rename it to
upgrade.bin.
- Enable TFTP client on Windows (Control Panel → Programs → Turn Windows features on/off → TFTP Client).
- Set your PC’s IP to
192.168.1.100.
- Connect directly to LAN port 1 on the HG532e.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
tftp -i 192.168.1.1 PUT upgrade.bin
- Wait for “Transfer successful”. Then power-cycle the router manually.
Step 3: Backup Current Configuration
- In router admin, go to Management → Settings Backup.
- Click Backup Settings and save the
.cfg file to your computer.
Step 1: Identify Current Firmware Version
- Connect PC to router via Ethernet cable.
- Open a web browser and enter
http://192.168.1.1.

- Go to Status → Device Information.
- Note the Software Version (e.g.,
V100R001C01B030).
Step-by-Step: Huawei HG532e Firmware Update
Important cautions before updating
- Back up current settings (if possible). A firmware update often resets settings to factory defaults.
- Download firmware only from a trusted source (your ISP or Huawei official support). Using wrong or tampered files can brick the device.
- Ensure the router has uninterrupted power during the update — use a UPS or avoid updating during storms or unstable power.
- Confirm the model number and hardware version: HG532e (check the label on the router). Firmware for other models/hardware revisions is incompatible.
- Note ISP modifications: Some ISPs lock firmware or provide customized images; in those cases, use the ISP-provided firmware.
