⚠️ Critical Warning Before You Start CATIA V5 R21 was released in 2011. Windows 11 was released in 2021. This software is not officially supported on Windows 11. You may encounter graphical glitches, stability issues, or licensing failures. This guide uses workarounds, but success is not guaranteed for all hardware configurations.
🛠️ Tips if you still want to try:
- Use a VM – Install Windows 7 or 8.1 in VirtualBox/VMware and run CATIA there. Much more stable.
- Disable Hardware Acceleration inside CATIA’s settings → reduces glitches (but kills performance).
- Run as Administrator + Disable fullscreen optimizations for
CNEXT.exe. - Avoid upgrade installs – Clean Win11 install + compatibility tweaks works better than upgrading from Win10 with CATIA already installed.
Step 4: Install CATIA V5 R21
Follow the installer steps carefully:
- Installation Type →
Install(not custom unless you know what to exclude). - Destination folder → Avoid
C:\Program Files. UseC:\Dassault Systemes\B21(short path prevents permission issues). - Environment settings → Leave default
C:\ProgramData\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv.
(If this fails, create the folder manually). - Select components → For best stability on Win11, uncheck:
- 3D Live (dated web features)
- Documentation (may freeze installer)
