Install Stata 16 [portable]

Before You Install

• License: Ensure you have a valid license (perpetual, annual, or site license) with serial number, code, and authorization key.
• System Requirements:
  • Windows: 7/8/10 (64-bit recommended)
  • macOS: 10.13 (High Sierra) or newer
  • Linux: 64-bit distribution (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS)

Installation Steps for macOS

1. Download: Purchase and download Stata 16 for macOS from the Stata website.

2. Mount the Disk Image: Open the .dmg file you downloaded. This will mount the Stata 16 disk image.

3. Run the Installer: Open the Stata 16 disk image, and you will see a .pkg file. Double-click on it to run the installer.

4. Welcome Screen: The Stata 16 Installation wizard will start. Click "Continue." install stata 16

5. License Agreement: Read the License Agreement, and click "Continue." Then, click "Agree."

6. Choose Install Location: Choose where to install Stata 16. The default location is usually fine. Click "Continue."

7. Installation Type: You can choose the installation type. "Standard" is usually sufficient. Before You Install

8. Ready to Install: Review your choices. Click "Install."

9. Authenticate: You may be prompted to enter your macOS user password to authorize the installation.

10. Completing the Installation: Wait for the installation to complete, then click "Close." License : Ensure you have a valid license

Linux Silent Install

Create an init.xml file with the license and run:

./stinstall -s init.xml

Stata 16 is less demanding than modern software, but you still need:

• Processor: 64-bit x86-64 (Intel/AMD). Stata 16 no longer supports 32-bit operating systems.
• RAM: 4 GB minimum (8 GB+ recommended for large datasets).
• Disk Space: 1.2 GB for Stata/MP (Standard edition requires ~600 MB).
• OS: Windows 7 (with updates), 8.1, 10, 11; macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) through 12 (Monterey); Linux (glibc 2.12+).
