"Merhaba, ben Marco. İtalya’dan geldim ve İstanbul’da yaşıyorum. Türkçemi geliştirmek için bir kursa gidiyorum. Bu sabah hava çok güneşliydi. Evim Galata’daki eski bir apartmanda. Sabah kahvaltısı yapmak için sahile indim. Karşımada muhteşem bir manzara vardı: Kız Kulesi ve deniz.
Sahilde küçük bir kahve buldum. Garson genç ve güler yüzlü biriydi. Menüde 'Serpme Kahvaltı' yazıyordu. Ben de sipariş ettim. Masada simit, beyaz peynir, zeytin ve domates vardı. Çayımı içerken etrafı izledim. İnsanlar koşuyor, çocuklar güneşin tadını çıkarıyordu.
Sonra yürüyüşe çıktım ve vapura bindim. Vapur Kadıköy’e gidiyordu. Denizin ortasından İstanbul Boğazı’nı izlemek bana huzur verdi. Kulaklarımda Sezen Aksu’nun bir şarkısı vardı. İstanbul gerçekten kalbimde taht kurmuş bir şehir. Burası bazen kalabalık ve gürültülü olsa da, sabahları çok romantik."
Step 1: The Cold Listen (No Book, No Pause)
Listen to the dialogue once without looking at the book or the transcript. Your goal is not 100% understanding. Your goal is to catch:
- The topic (is this a hospital? a market? a job interview?)
- The speaker’s emotion (angry? happy? nervous?)
- 3-5 keywords you recognize.

Your 3-Step “Best” Listening Routine
Do not just listen once and check the answers. That is a waste of a good exercise. Here is the solid routine that B1 students ignore (but top students use):
Step 1: The Cold Listen (No book) Close the textbook. Listen to the track once. Do not write anything. Can you answer the 5W questions? Who? Where? Why? When? What? If you can get the main idea (50% comprehension), you are ready for the next step.
Step 2: The “Script Shadow” (Book open) Open the listening script (dinleme metni) at the back of the book. Listen again while reading.
- Circle every word you know but couldn’t hear.
- Underline every conjunction (ama, fakat, ancak, çünkü).
- Highlight 3 new idioms.
Step 3: The Slow Playback (Trick) Use a YouTube player or an app like Audipo to slow the track to 0.75x speed. Listen to the sections you failed. Then speed it back up to normal. You will be shocked how much clearer it becomes.
