One of the most interesting aspects of the NDSII installation process is troubleshooting a failed activation. It is a rite of passage for many users.

You type in the key, hit enter, and... nothing. The software is still in demo mode.

This usually happens because of a driver conflict. The cable you are using might be a cheaper clone unit, or the drivers haven't been installed correctly. The software looks for a specific signature from the cable to validate the key. If the drivers are generic, the software can’t "see" the hardware it is licensed for. The fix? You often have to manually force the installation of legacy drivers or locate the specific .key file in the installation directory and adjust its permissions so the software can read it.
