How to Verify Your Controller (VID/PID Check): Download USBDeview or ChipGenius (included in some repack
- Download USBDeview or ChipGenius (included in some repack bundles).
- Run the tool and locate your USB drive.
- Look for VID=13FE and PID=xxxx (Phison’s vendor ID is 13FE).
- Under “Controller,” you should see:
Phison PS2251-03, PS2251-07, PS2251-09, or PS2305.
If you see a different controller (e.g., PS2251-68 or PS2251-01), v3.72.0B may still work, but you’ll need different firmware.
Safety & Best Practices
- Always backup original dumps twice; store off-machine.
- Use a sacrificial device for testing repacks when unsure.
- Keep environment static-free and use quality USB cables/power sources.
- Use official or well-vetted community firmware; avoid unknown/untrusted sources.
- Keep logs and versioned backups of each attempt to allow rollback.
- Understand that some bricked devices may be unrecoverable without specialized JTAG/test tools.
Error “Check File System Fail” or “Format Fail”
- Cause: Bad blocks or incompatible partition mode.
- Solution: Change Partition Setting → Mode to “4 (Fixed disk)”, save, reflash. After success, use Windows Disk Management to partition it as removable again.
Using the Pre-Built FlashBoot Scripts:
Inside the repack folder, look for FB_Inst.bat or a subfolder named ISO. Place any bootable .iso (Windows installer, Hiren’s Boot CD, Ubuntu) inside. Run the batch script – it will automatically format and write the ISO to the freshly flashed drive using Syslinux or Grub4DOS.
