9.00 - Ps4 Downgrade 13.02 To
Disclaimer: This article is for educational and informational purposes only. Downgrading your PS4 firmware requires advanced hardware manipulation, voids your warranty, violates Sony’s Terms of Service, and carries a high risk of permanently bricking your console. The Easier "Soft-Downgrade" (Recovery Mode Reinstall)
A common misconception is that "Initialize PS4" or "Rebuild Database" (Safe Mode Option 6 or 7) is a downgrade. It is not. ps4 downgrade 13.02 to 9.00
- Option 7 (Reinstall System Software) requires a firmware file equal to or newer than your current version. If you are on 13.02, you must use 13.02 or 13.10. You cannot use 9.00 here.
4. What About the 9.00 Jailbreak? (Misconception Clarification)
Many users mistakenly believe that since 9.00 is jailbreakable, they can “downgrade” from a higher version to 9.00, jailbreak, and then play backups. This is false. Option 7 (Reinstall System Software) requires a firmware
- The 9.00 jailbreak cannot be installed or executed on 13.02. It requires vulnerabilities patched long ago.
- There is no “downgrade payload” or “firmware flasher” for PS4. All supposed tools (e.g., “PS4 Downgrade Tool v5.0”) are scams containing malware or fake files.
Part 6: Alternative – The "No Downgrade" Route
If you cannot find a 9.00 console and do not want to pay for hardware modding, consider these options: but developers like TheFlow
- Wait for a new exploit: The PS4 scene is old, but developers like TheFlow, SpecterDev, and others occasionally release new exploits. It is possible (though not guaranteed) that a new exploit for firmware 13.02 will eventually arrive. However, as of 2026, no public exploits exist for 13.02.
- PS4 Pro or PS5 upgrade: Instead of hacking, consider that the PS5 plays 99% of PS4 games with better performance and loading times. No jailbreak is required for standard gaming.
- Emulation: If you own a powerful PC, you can use the ShadPS4 emulator to play many PS4 games without hacking your console.
1. The Firmware Gap: 13.02 vs. 9.00
| Feature | Firmware 9.00 | Firmware 13.02 | |--------|--------------|----------------| | Release Date | September 2021 | March 2025 | | Jailbreak Status | Fully exploited (userland + kernel + BD-JB + PPPwn optional) | No public kernel exploit (as of 2026) | | Downgrade possibility | Not applicable (base target) | None via software | | Minimum fuses blown for | Fuses set at 9.00’s level | Fuses set at 13.02’s level (much higher counter) |
Firmware 9.00 is the last highly stable jailbreakable firmware. Firmware 13.02 patches all known public entry points, including the BD-JB (Blu-ray Java) used on 9.00 and the PPPwn RCE used up to ~11.00.
Why 13.02 to 9.00 is Specifically Difficult
Many downgrade guides online refer to "13.02 to 9.00" but often confuse users. Here is the specific problem with 13.02:
- Firmware 10.00 and above introduced new "Anti-Rollback" security measures that are more aggressive than previous generations.
- Firmware 13.02 is a minor patch for system stability, but it generally carries the same security keys as 12.xx and 13.xx. However, the efuse count is higher.
- To go from 13.02 to 9.00, you are attempting to jump back four major versions. This requires patching multiple layers of efuse checks. A single mistake during soldering will result in a no-boot console (Green Light of Death).
