Guide: Quad-Core T3 (P1) Firmware Update Download
This guide provides instructions on how to find, download, and install firmware updates for car head units running on the Quad-Core T3 (P1) platform (commonly found in Android car stereos).
Process:
- Install PhoenixSuit on your PC.
- Open PhoenixSuit → Click "Firmware" → Load your
.imgfile. - Short the NAND pins: On the T3 board, locate the NAND chip (the big black square). Use tweezers to short pins 29 & 30 (or 7 & 8 – Google your specific board layout).
- Connect USB: While shorting, plug the USB cable into the PC's USB 2.0 port.
- Release the short. You will hear the PC "USB connect" sound.
- PhoenixSuit will pop up: "Force Format." Click Yes.
- Wait for the green circle (100%).
- Disconnect USB and reconnect power.
Common post-update issues and fixes
- Device fails to boot:
- Try vendor recovery (TFTP, USB recovery, serial). If unavailable, contact manufacturer support.
- Configuration lost or defaulted:
- Re-import saved configuration or re-enter critical settings manually (WAN credentials, Wi‑Fi SSID/password).
- Performance degraded or instability:
- Check kernel logs (dmesg), reboot, and if persistent, consider rolling back to previous firmware and reporting bug with logs.
- Incompatible features:
- Consult release notes for known regressions; developers sometimes disable or change features between minor revisions.
B. Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Malfunctions
After a forced reset, you may find that Wi-Fi turns off immediately after turning it on. The T3 P1 update contains specific driver blobs for cheap Wi-Fi chips (usually RTL8723BS, HS2734A, or SV6256P). Without the correct P1 patch, the Bluetooth stack fails to initialize. 5. Installing the Update
Method C: PC via USB (PhoenixSuit)

- Install PhoenixSuit on Windows.
- Load
update.imgin PhoenixSuit. - Short test points or hold FEL button (varies by board) while connecting USB.
- Click “Upgrade” – will force flash the image.
Part 4: Identifying Your Correct Firmware Version
Downloading the wrong T3 P1 update will brick your device. Check these three variables before clicking download: Guide: Quad-Core T3 (P1) Firmware Update Download This
| Variable | Common Values | How to check | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | RAM | 1GB / 2GB / 4GB | Physical chip markings or settings | | Storage | 8GB / 16GB / 32GB / 64GB | System info | | Wi-Fi Chip | AP6212, AP6330, RTL8188, XR819 | Remove the circuit board; look for the metal square with antenna wire. | Install PhoenixSuit on your PC
Crucial: A firmware for AP6212 Wi-Fi will NOT work on RTL8188. Your Ethernet might work, but Wi-Fi will be dead.
