3. The Viscosity Breakdown

This is the most critical number for predicting bearing life.

• Base Oil Viscosity: Approx. 220 cSt at 40°C.
• Viscosity Index: 95.
• Why it matters: The "V220" in the new name refers to this viscosity. A viscosity of 220 is relatively "thick" or "heavy."
  • Best For: Heavily loaded bearings, slower speeds, and higher temperatures.
  • Not For: High-speed, lightly loaded bearings (where a thinner oil, like ISO 46 or 68, would be better).

Industrial Bearings

• Electric motor bearings (horizontal and vertical)
• Fans and blowers
• Pumps (centrifugal and positive displacement)
• Conveyor rollers (especially in wet/outdoor conditions)

Storage & Handling

• Storage temperature: store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; ambient recommended (0–40 °C).
• Shelf life: typically 3–5 years (sealed containers), check supplier datasheet for exact expiry.
• Containers: cartridges, 400 g tubs, 18 kg pails, 180 kg drums.
• Handling: avoid contamination with dirt, water, or other lubricants; use clean dispensing equipment.
• Disposal: dispose in accordance with local regulations; do not discharge into drains or the environment.

5. Key Performance Features

Looking at the specifications section of the sheet, you will see a few standout numbers: Base Oil Viscosity: Approx

• Mechanical Stability: It resists softening. Even under high shear (fast spinning), it maintains its structure.
• Water Resistance: It has a low water washout rating. If your application involves steam or water spray, this grease will stay in the bearing and not wash away easily.
• Corrosion Protection: It provides a high level of rust inhibition ( EMCOR test results are typically 0:0).

A. Excellent Mechanical Stability

The Roll Stability test shows a penetration change of +30 max. This means Alvania G3 softens very little under shearing forces. In vibrating or high-torque applications, the grease retains its consistency and does not turn into a liquid run-off.
