Director Hari stuck to his winning formula. This time, Durai Singam (Suriya) has been promoted to an Assistant Commissioner of Police in Hyderabad. We are introduced to a villainous corporate magnate, Vittal Rao, played by the late, great Thakur Anoop Singh, who deals in arms smuggling and toxic gas threats.

The narrative attempts a high-stakes game: a kidnapping, a secret formula for a deadly chemical weapon, and a race against time to save the country. To help him, Singam brings back his loyal sidekick Erimalai (Vivek) and his now-wife Kavya (Anushka Shetty, appearing in a glorified cameo).
