Synopsis (Long Feature)
Sinkhole (2021) is a unique blend of disaster thriller and slapstick comedy that takes a terrifying natural phenomenon and turns it into a wild, emotional, and surprisingly hilarious survival story. The film follows Park Dong-won (Kim Sung-kyun), a regular office worker who has saved up for 11 years to finally buy his first house—a modest villa in the heart of Seoul. For Dong-won, this home represents his entire life's achievement, a place to raise his young son and live out the Korean dream.
However, his joy is short-lived. After a record-breaking downpour, a massive sinkhole suddenly opens up right underneath his house. In a matter of seconds, the entire five-story villa, along with several residents and a random visitor, plunges over 500 meters into a deep, dark chasm underground.
Trapped deep beneath the earth are a motley crew of survivors:
