Part 7: Uninstalling or Repairing a Broken Install

If your SolidWorks 2024 install is beyond repair:

1. Run the SolidWorks Installation Manager again.
2. Select "Modify" > "Repair" . This takes 15 minutes and fixes missing registry keys and DLLs.
3. If repair fails, select "Remove" . Then manually delete:
   • C:\Program Files\SOLIDWORKS Corp
   • C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS
   • C:\Users\[YourName]\AppData\Roaming\SOLIDWORKS
4. Run a registry cleaner (CCleaner free version).
5. Reboot, then attempt a fresh SolidWorks 2024 install.

Step 5: Select Products (Crucial Decision)

The installer will automatically check several boxes (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, Toolbox, Electrical, Composer, Visualize). You do not need everything.

• Must-have: SOLIDWORKS, Language Packs (English + your native language), SOLIDWORKS Toolbox, and SOLIDWORKS Utilities.
• Optional: eDrawings (install separately if you want), SOLIDWORKS PCB (only if you use Altium).
• Avoid: SOLIDWORKS PDM Client (unless you are on a PDM vault), SOLIDWORKS Inspection (trial only).

Click Next.

Step 1: Extract the Download

You likely downloaded a giant .ISO file or a zipped folder.

• For .ISO: Right-click > Mount. (Do not burn to a DVD unless necessary).
• For ZIP: Extract to C:\SW2024_Install (avoid long folder paths).
