When trying to install the printer to my new computers, a message appears telling that printer driver is not compatible with Windows XP Home Edition.

Can anyone tell me where to find them?. I've found it for MD-1300 but I don't know if it would run...

Technics Sa-370s Service Manual Guide

The Technician’s Blueprint: Why the Technics SA-370S Service Manual is Indispensable

For audiophiles and vintage stereo enthusiasts, few names command as much respect as Technics. The Technics SA-370S, a stalwart of the late 1970s and early 1980s, represents the golden era of high-power, low-distortion receivers. With its robust 45-watts-per-channel output, quartz-synthesized tuning, and that iconic “New Class A” amplifier topology, the SA-370S is a sought-after piece of history.

But vintage electronics are temperamental. Capacitors dry out, solder joints crack, and potentiometers get scratchy. When your prized receiver falls silent or starts distorting, you don’t need a generic guide—you need the Technics SA-370S Service Manual.

This article explores why this specific document is the most critical tool for restoration, where to find it, and how to use it to resurrect your audio legend.

Practical Tips for Using This Manual

  • Cross-check with the SA-380S manual – The two models are very similar (same main board, minor output transistor differences). Having both can clarify inconsistencies.
  • Use the parts list for substitutions – For example, the output transistors (2SD1047 / 2SB817) are easily replaced with MJL21194/93 or 2SC5200/2SA1943 pairs.
  • Idle current adjustment is critical – The manual specifies 6 mV ± 1 mV across the emitter resistors. Don’t skip this.

4. Safety and High Voltage

The power supply section of the SA-370S contains large filter capacitors that can hold a lethal charge (approx. 40-60V DC) even when unplugged. The manual highlights the high-voltage areas and discharge procedures.

Issue: Weak or Distorted Sound

  1. DC Offset Check: The manual specifies the acceptable DC offset at the speaker terminals (usually <50mV). If high, the output transistors may be leaking.
  2. Bias Adjustment: The service manual lists a "Bias Current" adjustment procedure. This involves measuring voltage across emitter resistors (often 0.22 ohm or similar) and adjusting a trimmer pot.

Final Verdict

The Technics SA-370S service manual is essential but not perfect. It gives you everything a technician needs: schematics, parts, and adjustments. It does not hold your hand. If you’re comfortable reading schematics and using a multimeter/oscilloscope, this manual will guide you to a successful repair. For beginners, pair it with general YouTube troubleshooting videos for similar-era receivers.

Recommendation: Get the PDF from a reputable source (e.g., HiFi Engine, ElektroTanya) and print the schematic on A3 paper. You’ll thank yourself later.

I can’t reproduce or provide verbatim text from copyrighted service manuals. I can, however, create an original, non-infringing, helpful alternative such as:

  • A concise original service guide covering typical receiver sections (safety, disassembly, schematic overview, troubleshooting steps, common faults and repairs, alignment procedure outline, parts list template).
  • A step-by-step repair checklist tailored to the Technics SA-370S (assumed stereo receiver) with safety warnings, test points to measure, common component failure modes, and alignment/test signal settings.
  • A searchable index/contents-style outline you could use to organize a service manual you compile.
  • An annotated parts and circuit diagram checklist (what to check: power supply rails, muting circuitry, phono preamp, tone controls, tape/line switching, output stages).
  • A printable maintenance sheet and calibration procedure (bias, offset checks, FM/AM front-end tips) written from general electronics service practice (not copying original manual).

Which of these would you like? If you want a full original service-style manual, confirm and I’ll produce a structured, original document (safety, teardown, diagnostics, alignment, adjustments, parts checklist) tailored to the SA-370S.
