Understanding the Unimus License Key: Activation, Types, and Management
Unimus is a powerful network automation and configuration management tool. To unlock its full functionality—moving beyond the free tier limitations—you need a valid Unimus License Key. This key acts as a digital certificate that authorizes your specific Unimus server instance, defining what features are available and how many network devices it can manage.
Step-by-Step Activation: How to Apply Your Unimus License Key
Once you have your key, activating it is a web-based process. You do not need to SSH into the server. Unimus License Key
How to Obtain and Apply Your License Key
Method A: Web UI Activation (Recommended)
- Log in to your Unimus web interface (default port
8085). - Go to Menu (☰) → Settings → License.
- Locate the text box labeled "License Key".
- Carefully paste your key (e.g.,
ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-U). Ensure no extra spaces. - Click "Activate License".
- Unimus will contact the activation server. Within 2 seconds, you should see: "License successfully activated. Valid until [Date]."
Error 4: "License Expired"
- Cause: Your subscription ended. Unimus enters read-only mode after 30 days of expiration (no new backups, but existing configs are viewable).
- Fix: Renew via your reseller or the Unimus portal. You do not need a new key; reactivating the old key downloads a new expiry date.
