Shiro Games designed Wartales to be a grueling simulation of mercenary life. Hunger, disease, and debt are features, not bugs. However, the Wartales Save Editor is a tool, not a judgment. - For Roleplayers: Edit your starting party to look exactly like your favorite fantasy novel characters.
- For Time-Strapped Players: Remove the resource grind so you can enjoy only the tactical combat.
- For Completionists: Fix bugged faction quests without restarting.
2) Make backups
- Copy the entire Saves folder to a separate location (e.g., Desktop\WartalesBackups).
- Make at least two backups: one before any edits, one after successful edits.
A. Save Corruption
The most common risk. altering byte lengths in a hex editor or crashing the game while a memory editor is writing data can result in a corrupted save file that cannot be loaded. B. Anti-Cheat / Stability
Wartales does not use kernel-level anti-cheat (like BattlEye or Denuvo). It is generally safe to use Cheat Engine in single-player. However, Steam Cloud synchronization can sometimes conflict if local files are edited aggressively. For Roleplayers: Edit your starting party to look
1. Save File Location
Before you can edit anything, you need to find the files. On Windows, they are located here:

Win + R, pasting%appdata%, going up one folder toLocalorLocalLow, and finding theShiro Gamesfolder.
The saves usually look like folders containing info.json and data.bin files.
