The Future: What’s Next for Zadar on Google Maps?
With this "new" update, Zadar joins the ranks of cities like Dubrovnik and Split in terms of digital fidelity. However, Google is experimenting with "Immersive View" (AI-generated 3D video of a route). Likely, the data captured during this Street View run will be used to build a 3D model of Zadar’s Riva for future updates.

For years, Zadar’s Street View coverage was limited mainly to the major arteries—the Obala kralja Petra Krešimira IV and the main road through the peninsula. The narrow limestone lanes of the Old Town often felt like a maze that Google cars couldn't solve.
The new update changes that. Here is what has been added:
- Complete Old Town Coverage: Every kaleta (narrow street) from the Land Gate to the Forum is now navigable.
- High-Definition Imagery: The new photos capture the reflective sheen of the polished stone streets and the intricate details of the Roman Forum ruins.
- The Sea Organ & Greeting to the Sun: You can now take a virtual stroll along the Riva (waterfront) with crystal clarity, seeing exactly how the solar panels of the "Greeting to the Sun" look before sunset.
