A Practical Exercise: Translating Jargon to Value

To internalize the Laffra method without the PDF, perform this exercise daily. Take a technical sentence and "Laffra-ize" it.

  • Technical: "The API gateway is experiencing throttling due to an exponential backoff algorithm misconfiguration resulting in a 503 surge."
  • Laffra Translation (to Product Manager): "The website is slow right now because a setting in our traffic controller is wrong. We are fixing it. Estimated resolution: 15 minutes."
  • Laffra Translation (to CTO): "The rate limiter’s backoff algorithm is set to base 4 instead of base 2. We need to hotfix the environment variable RATE_LIMIT_BASE to 2."

Notice how the data remains the same, but the delivery changes. This is the essence of engineering communication.
