“This could be an inside job,” Miyu whispered, eyes fixed on the screen. “Someone with access to both the agency’s internal data and the skill set to build a site like Layarxxi.”

Haruki leaned back, the gears turning. “Find me that director. And get me the agency’s internal logs for the past six months. I want to see who’s been accessing Riri’s private files.”

Chapter 4 – The Photographer’s Perspective

Kenji lived in a modest apartment overlooking the Sumida River. He greeted Haruki with a cautious smile, his camera lenses scattered across the table like glass beads. “I heard you wanted to talk about Riri,” he said, gesturing to a chair.

“I’m trying to understand why someone would target her,” Haruki replied. “Your name came up in the logs.”

Kenji’s eyes flickered. “I photographed her for a project called ‘Echoes of Light.’ It was a series meant to capture the duality of fame—the bright front and the shadows behind it. I never imagined it would become… something else.”

He pulled out a USB drive. “I found this in my bag after the last shoot. I thought it was a backup of my raw files, but it’s encrypted. When I tried opening it, a message popped up: ‘Welcome to Layarxxi. Your data is now ours.’ I deleted it, but I think the person who did that may have copied my files.”

Haruki examined the drive. The encryption matched the code found on the website. “Did you ever share any of your photos with anyone else?”

Kenji shook his head. “Only with Riri. She wanted to keep the project private—no publicity until the exhibition. I think someone inside the agency might have stolen the files and used them as bait.”
