Project ATMOSPHERE v0.4-P4 is a significant content update for the sci-fi adult visual novel developed by
This version continues to expand the game's ambitious dual-world narrative—transitioning between a standard world and a Cyberpunk 2077
inspired future—while delivering substantial technical and visual upgrades Key Narrative Events in v0.4-P4
This update focuses on deepening relationships with several core and side characters through hundreds of new high-definition renders: Jesse's Secret Mission : A major storyline featuring approximately 570 renders
where Jesse attempts to join the secret "Atmosphere" organization alongside the MC, Yui, and Mia. Phoebe's Romantic Surprise
: A morning event at home (~145 renders) and a tender "romantic surprise" getaway specifically for her fans. Susan's New Apartment
: A significant "Lewd Event" (~570 renders and 43 animations) where the MC attempts to earn Susan's forgiveness, notably focusing on their relationship without kinky diversions like pegging. Nightclub Expansion
: A social evening with Monica and Phoebe that introduces new faces, such as , adding spice to the scene with over 715 renders Technical and Visual Improvements
Beyond the story, v0.4-P4 serves as a major "polish" update for the game's foundation: Engine Upgrade : The game has been migrated to Ren'Py 8.3 , improving stability and performance. Privacy Focus
: The developer has removed analytics, ensuring all gameplay data remains entirely in the player's hands.
: Extensive fixes were implemented for dialogue typos, translation errors, and specific game-breaking bugs that previously occurred on days 13, 15, and 20-21. New Mechanics
: The update introduces small but immersive features, such as pop-up messages during in-game texting events. Overview of Game Content (As of v0.4-P4) Visual Scope 17,600 HD static renders 600+ HD animations : Features 5 main girls
and a dozen side characters with branching paths and optional adult content. : Includes over 148 licensed music tracks to build its distinct sci-fi tone. : Available for and via an official or help finding the latest version Project ATMOSPHERE 0.4-P3 – RELEASE - Patreon
3.1 Test Case 1: Convective Boundary Layer (CBL)
- Setup: Homogeneous surface heating 0.1 K/s for 6 hours, no mean wind.
- Result: SST scheme produced realistic entrainment zone thickness (200–300 m) vs. 150 m for the old scheme. TKE profiles matched large-eddy simulation (LES) reference within 8%.
Chapter 6: Performance and Hardware Requirements
Let’s address the elephant in the room. Project Atmosphere Version 0.4 Part 4 is hungry. The 512x512x128 grid with full dust coupling and microburst modeling requires:
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 or higher (AMD 7900 XT for OpenCL fallback) – 12 GB VRAM minimum.
- CPU: 8 cores / 16 threads (for I/O and boundary condition updates).
- RAM: 32 GB recommended for real-time output at 1 km horizontal resolution.
- Storage: NVMe SSD – log files can exceed 10 GB/hour when outputting full 3D fields.
However, Quartz Skies Interactive has included a "Fast Mode" (half-resolution, no dust-radiation coupling) that runs on an RTX 3060. Hardcore simmers, understandably, refuse to use it.
Performance and Stability
-
Optimization Updates: A key focus of this update has been on optimizing performance. Our developers have worked on reducing the game's overall system requirements, making Project Atmosphere more accessible to a wider range of players without sacrificing visual fidelity.
-
Bug Fixes and Stability Improvements: As with every update, we've addressed a long list of bugs reported by our community. This has not only fixed numerous issues but has also improved the overall stability of the game, ensuring a smoother experience.
5.2 Limitations
- Stochastic term requires 4 random number generations per grid cell per physics timestep → memory overhead.
- DBC assumes linear wave propagation; may need refinement for strongly nonlinear orographic flows.
- Not yet validated for tropical cyclone boundary layers.
1. Vertical Temperature Gradients (Lapse Rate 2.0)
The previous fixed lapse rate has been replaced with an adaptive adiabatic model. The atmosphere now calculates temperature drop per 100 meters based on real-time humidity and solar incidence.
- Result: Cumulus clouds now form at variable altitudes, and heat haze distorts distant terrain procedurally.
- Impact on performance: Optimized using compute shaders; less than 0.2ms overhead per frame.
